Client:
Keyway Recycling Ltd and Cotswold Hills Golf Club
Proposals:
Golf Course Improvement including a waste recycling and
recovery operation for the importation of up to 150,000m3 of
inert material, to re-profile the land and create new holes on
the golf course.
Site:
Cotswold Hills Golf Club, Cheltenham
The proposals seek to improve playability, player safety, and
increase the amount of overall play allowed on the course,
which would remove the need for temporary greens.
An application was submitted in April 2016 with support from
landscape and visual work undertaken by Bridges Design
Associates. This showed how the golf course could incorporate
extensive planting and landscaping which would result in
virtually no adverse landscape or visual impacts in the medium
term, and no long term adverse impacts. The appraisal further
identified that long term benefits to the local landscape
character would be gained and enhance the appearance of the
area.
The largest constraint to the project is the fact that the
land is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
(AONB). However, through sensitive construction management
planned in phases, and landscape planting, the council has
agreed that the proposals will result in an overall
enhancement to the character of the area. Having dealt with
all significant areas of concern the application was approved
by delegated authority in July 2017. We have recently
submitted an application to discharge the relevant
pre-commencement conditions so that works can begin on site at
the end of this year.
